Mount AraratThe possible resting place of Noah's Ark
Looking Northwest into Armenia (Formerly USSR) from our tent at
15,500 feet. Above The Clouds Courtesy of Bill Spear Noah's Ark has been seen many times over thousands of years. Recent expeditions (including the one sponsored by International Expeditions in 1983 of which I was a part) have not been successful in discovery, although many reports have indicated finding the Ark. Most of these recent "finds" are unsubstantiated. Turkey is a very difficult country in which to do research because of permitting difficulties. The beautiful mountain of Ararat is 17,000 feet high, with a 300 foot deep ice cap on top. The mountain is difficult to investigate even when permits are in hand, due to rapidly changing weather, massive boulder fields, snow, ice, & political problems. At present, many explorers are concentrating on an area known as the Ahora Gorge.
There are 3 "peaks" within this mile deep gorge that have been described more than once by reported viewers of the Ark! Climbers experience avalanches of rock and ice, plus difficult "rotten" rock while trying to move to this particular area. These threats, plus other "difficulties" have prevented thorough investigation so far. Looking East towards the 17,000 foot peak in Turkey. Courtesy of Bill Spear The mountain covers nearly 300 square miles. It is located in Western Turkey near the Turkish/Armenian/Iranian borders. There is a large Kurdish population in this area. Sheep are often herded on the lower portions of the mountain. Wild animals include bears, wolves, and huge sheep dogs (some a little unfriendly!) Mountain Ministries does visual presentations on the search for the Ark of Noah and the culture of modern Turkey. We would be pleased to help you understand the dimensions of this search. Bill has been on the mountain and involved in the search-it is a vast and exciting experience!
Call us today for information at: 1-970-468-8589 Ask for Bill Spear Why would anyone want to look for Noah's Ark? If it is demonstrable that the Ark exists on Ararat, skeptics, religious or not, would need to look again at the truth of the Bible. We realize the story which is written in the book of Genesis is pretty wild and crazy, especially for the western mind which has been shaped by years of dependence on scientific proof. Only recently have we entered into a post-modern age where truth is often seen as more relative to our circumstances. If it is found what will you believe?
